About the Role National Grid is one of the largest investors in the Renewable Energy future and its implementation as a primary source of energy. In order to bring the promise of renewable energy to life, it is necessary to make a substantial investment in the controls and processes which govern our infrastructure. The IT and Digital function at NG is leading this effort to transform our energy infrastructure for the future. This role partners with the Chief Digital and Information Officer for National Grid Customer and Group Functions, working closely with a wide variety of stakeholders in IT, the business, and finance teams. Working collaboratively with these business partners to focus on strategic investments, develop key performance metrics, and drive business value. This is a highly visible manager role supporting one of the key pillars to internal and customer facing success.

You thrive in challenging situations that require people leadership as much as financial acumen. And most importantly, you look to bring financial insight to solve business problems. You will have strong analytical skills, are able to use data to tell a story with a focus on Commercial success.
IT is a rapidly changing environment - the ability to quickly understand these changes and identify the opportunities is a critical skill for the role.
You will have strong communication skills with proven ability to adapt the style of financial information presentation to suit a range of stakeholders, both financial and non-financial. You will be able to make linkages between financial and operational performance clear - driving change to optimise both outcomes.
What You'll Do - Support the business in evaluation of IT and Digital capital investments through robust and transparent financial modelling of long-term cash flows, with careful attention to assumptions, assessments of risks, and commercial viability
- Develop cost-out strategies to right size our operational expenses and instill a cost-conscious mindset with stakeholders
- Drive value in the business by exposing opportunities and insight to drive improvement initiatives. Manage financial risks and the implementation and maintenance of controls
- Partner with business leadership in the development of business cases and other strategic initiatives to ensure that all current and future investments are made in line with the business strategy and value requirements
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the US business leaders, finance colleagues, and other internal teams to ensure an efficient, consistent flow of information
- Conduct finance review of capital projects for internal approval, ensuring sufficient funding and assessment of changes in costs and scope of projects
- Accountable for the US CIDO monthly and quarterly performance results on operating expenses and capital expenditures with an emphasis on delivering insight and commentary on matters of importance and forward thinking financial and operational impacts
- Understand the regulatory structure of US operating companies (along with IFRS and GAAP accounting), collaborating with regulatory and finance colleagues on assessment of rate case changes, application to decision making, and impact to future activities
- Collaborate with other FBPs on training and best practices to drive efficiencies in activities and improved outcomes, demonstrating continuous improvement
What You'll Need - Bachelor's degree or equivalent, MBA or applicable advanced degree is preferred
- Advanced experience in organization with complex operating models
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills - proven track record in managing conflicting stakeholder interests.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills with an ability to identify key issues and recommend solutions to complex problems using data, logic and financial insight.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence and impact the decisions and financial performance of senior stakeholders and their teams throughout the relevant business area.
- Experience in utility service business activities and IT organizations a plus

Annual Salary
$126,000-$148,000
Salary commensurate with experience.
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
