Former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan won the NA-31 Peshawar-V by-election with 57,824 votes beating the Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour on Sunday, according to unofficial results.

Bilour bagged 32,253 votes, losing the political citadel to the PTI — who has been ruling Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2013.

Eight candidates were vying for NA-31 Pesha­war-V, including Khan, Bilour, JI’s Mohammad Aslam, Rah-i-Haq Party’s Saeedullah Khan, Tehreek-i-Jawanan Pakis­tan’s Abdul Qadir, former MNA Shaukat Ali, who left the seat vacant and was a covering candidate for Imran Khan, and independent candidates Emran Khan and Shaukat Ali.
