Job Description & RequirementsPathologists Assistant - Pennington, NJ\n13 weeks, Days, 40hr/wk\nShift: 8-4:30p, 40hrs/wk \nStart: 10/21\n\nLocal: $70/HR\nTravel: $3067/wk \n\nDuration: Approximately 6 months – Expected end date in late March to early April\nShift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM\nShift Requirements: No weekends, no on-call, no floating. The department is closed for the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.\nRequired Certifications: Certified ASCP\nExperience: 2+ years of experience as a Pathology Assistant required. Graduation from an NAACLS-approved Pathology Assistant training program is preferred.\n\nJob Summary:\nThe Pathology Assistant will assist pathologists in the examination, dissection, and processing of tissues, as well as in gross autopsy dissection, under the direction of a board-certified, licensed pathologist.\n\nEssential Functions:\n\nEnsure proper specimen accessioning and gather clinical history, including scans, x-rays, and lab data.\nDescribe gross anatomic features, dissect surgical specimens, and prepare tissues for histologic processing.\nObtain biological specimens such as blood, tissue, and toxicological materials for studies (e.g., flow cytometry, image analysis, immunohistochemistry).\nParticipate in gross and microscopic specimen photography.\nPerform administrative duties related to the maintenance of surgical pathology protocols, reports, and data.\nEnsure proper maintenance of equipment, adequate supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology suite.\nPrepare human post mortem examinations, including coordinating with the attending pathologist and notifying relevant personnel.\nConduct post mortem examinations, including external examination, in-situ organ inspection, evisceration, and dissection.\nSelect, prepare, and submit appropriate gross tissues for histologic sections and special studies.\nPrepare the body for release.\nInterview Process: Virtual interviews with cameras on.\n\n \n
