We are looking for a motivated sales representative to join our outside sales team in the Pittsburgh area. The ideal candidate would be an ambitious, reliable, and goal-oriented team player with several years of successful sales experience. Some level of knowledge about our products is preferred, but we will train you to be an expert. 

Our outside sales representatives spend most of their time during the week in the field, approaching and closing new business leads. This position requires a significant amount of personal interaction with business owners throughout their territory, using software to track sales progression, and provide information and data to management for performance evaluation. Accurate recordkeeping and professional communication are required. Other than traveling for training, our outside sales representatives do not spend any time in our offices.

Because of the remote nature of our outside sales team, our staff is expected to be proactive and motivated. We will provide you with all the knowledge and tools you need to be successful, but make no mistake, the work is challenging and rewarding. 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish new accounts by planning and organizing a daily work schedule to call on prospective customers
  • Present clear knowledge of company products to sell to new and existing customers, and maintain a passion for the industry 
  • Maintain brand integrity by providing exceptional customer service and attention to detail
  • Travel effectively and maintain accurate records of sales efforts
  • Create and manage client relationships
  • Provide detailed reports of activities, market trends, and suggest ways to improve sales efforts
  • Work closely with leadership to develop, execute, and maintain a robust sales pipeline
  • Utilize existing software and suggest improvements to policies and practices where appropriate
  • Identify target prospects and generate interest through email, cold calling, and networking
  • Submit and process customer orders completely, utilizing an internal inventory system
  • Resolve customer issues by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management
  • Develop and maintain expert industry knowledge by attending industry events, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks
  • Visit top-performing accounts regularly
  • Occasionally participate in evening and/or weekend promotions and assist with special events as needed

Qualifications:

We are looking for a team player who is driven, proactive, and passionate about the space. We need effective problem solvers able to execute with little supervision. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2-5 years of successful B2B sales experience with an emphasis on acquiring new and developing existing customer accounts
  • Some understanding of counterculture products or natural alternatives to medicines
  • Passion for and responsibility to the customer, with an ability to build rapport with clients
  • Exceptional ability to communicate in a professional manner orally and in writing
  • Experience cold call prospecting with exceptional follow-up and account management skills
  • Experience in identifying, qualifying, and converting sales leads into customers
  • Ability to learn new software and effectively utilize all available tools for customer relationship management and inventory management
  • A solution-based sales methodology with the ability to identify customer needs and deliver added value at every opportunity
  • The desire for prospecting and skilled at negotiations and closing deals
  • Documented success achieving and exceeding assigned quotas
  • Ability to create and present detail-oriented plans to improve or create new business
  • Excellent judgment and relentlessly high standards, with the drive to exceed revenue targets
  • Counterculture/Smoke Shop/C-Store/Distribution experience or knowledge preferred
