Job Description

The WV Disability Determination Section is recruiting to fill five Medical Consultant positions. Medical Consultants will review electronic and paper Disability case files to provide interpretation of the evidence of physical and psychological impairments, impairment severity, and physical evidence sufficiency. They will prepare electronic forms and written statements of findings, assessment of severity, and a description of Physical and/or Mental Residual Functional Capacity. Medical Consultants participate as a co-decision maker with Disability Determination Specialists on Social Security Disability Determinations involving evidence of physical and mental impairments. They provide advice and guidance to Evaluation Specialists on physical and psychological conditions, contact outside medical evidence providers and claimants to obtain clarification of evidence, clarify inconsistencies, or expedite Disability decisions. They may conduct medical training for staff personnel in areas of specialization and perform other duties as assigned.

Medical Doctor –
* Must be a MD or DO
* Starting pay $69.30/hr.; Increased to $82.95/hr. at year 5.

Psychologists –
* Must be a Ph.D., Ed.D., or Psy.D.
* Starting pay $66.00/hr.; Increased to $69.30/hr. at year 5.

Hours - Part time medical consultants are not under specific work hour demands. WV DDS will work with the medical consultants individually to come up with a schedule. Typical workload for a part time medical consultant is 20 hours per week.

This job posting will run concurrently seeking a combined five medial consultants between the Charleston and Fairmont DDS District Office's.
