Job Description

Lead Education Specialist

Work with students of all ages and backgrounds.  Deliver programming as assigned by the Director of Programs.  This role is responsible for on-site coordination with school liaison and oversight of Talk Time facilitation. Programs are provided in-person within a 50-mile radius of Carmel.

Responsibilities:

  • Present various programs to children and youth in schools at different grade levels, as well as to adults.

  • Interact with teachers, school staff, and children in a professional, but caring manner. All presentations are scheduled within normal school hours, generally 7am-2pm during the school year. Lead Education Specialists must work a minimum of 3 days/week.

  • Facilitate and oversee Talk Time Sessions.

  • Provide supervision to Child Safety Education Specialists onsite as needed.

  • Collect and submit program evaluations.

  • Participate in on-going training to ensure that the program is being presented with fidelity. 

  • Provide own transportation to and from all contracted presentations. 

  • Reports to the Director of Programs. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field required. Master’s degree in a related field or a combination of experience, education, and/or training preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to work with and interact well with children, good presentation skills, effective communication skills with school representatives. 

  • Available and reliable to work when scheduled. 

  • Organization, preparedness, and communication with other program staff including the Program Coordinator and Program Support Specialist.

  • Training and coaching will be provided.

Compensation: Starting wage $20/hour; mileage compensated at current federal reimbursement rate; paid time off; no-cost telehealth benefits.
