ATTENTION:
The Financial Services Department in the Division of Administrative Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a Grant Accountant (Accountant I, FN001).
JOB DETAILS:This position is responsible for overseeing the campus grant accounting process, performing specific grant related functions such as budgeting, reporting, cash draws, and close out. This position also has responsibility for performing a broad range of reporting functions including Regent, Intramural and Single Audit GAAP reporting. These responsibilities involve a variety of appropriations including GPR, SEG and Federal funding sources.
This position works standard hours Monday through Friday and reports to the Assistant Controller. The employee is required to know and follow UW Whitewater, UW System (UWS) and Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) grant administration regulations.

A. Direct grant administration for the campus; provide accounting and technical support for a broad range of Extramural Funding
1. Oversee
grant administration process and work with the Financial Specialists who assist with grant responsibilities.
2. Serve as the primary contact person with Pre-Award. Meet with Pre-award as needed for a smooth transition from pre-award
to post award for new contracts and ensure all documentation is received.
3. Authorize new project codes
for new awards, and close project codes for ending awards.
4. Reconcile award budgets to granting
agencies.
5. Primary responsibility for analyzing cash needs and draws according to agency regulations
(Letter of Credit).
6. Interpret match requirements and ensure that the campus obligations can be and are
met.
7. Interpret regulations for grant administration, make recommendations for policy and procedures to
management, and provide technical support for interpretation of regulations and reporting requirements.
8.
Prepare ad hoc reports, analyze financial information, and provide technical support services to faculty and staff members with grants.
9. Process campus and agency paperwork for Post Award revisions to the grant budget, project period
extensions and personnel changes.
10. Identify and work with financial staff to extend and improve grant
accounting support for faculty and staff.
11. Perform grant maintenance for new fiscal year, move budget,
match budgets, and ensure the new fiscal year is set up properly.
12. Reconcile inventory records for
federal property throughout life of equipment and grant. Facilitate physical inventory of all federal equipment as required.
13. Contact federal agencies for interpretation of rules and regulations for fiscal compliance. Work with
state and federal auditors to assist in audit questions related to federal grants.
14. Prepare monthly,
periodic or closing reports as required by funding source.
15. Prepare entries for fringe benefit
allocations and indirect overhead expenses for funds 133 and 150.
16. Prepare annual financial report for
appropriations 133 and 144 in conformance with System Administration instructions.
17. Prepare indirect
cost pool allocations.
18. Maintain up to date information on the Financial Services website as it relates
to grants.
19. Monitor imaging/storage process for grant documents, ensuring retention requirements are
met.
B. Perform general accounting responsibilities
1. Provide backup for monthly and yearly maintenance for PeopleSoft.
2. Prepare financial
reports.
3. Set up, maintain, and invoice customers.
4. Reconcile
appropriation budgets.
5. Provide backup for GL structure maintenance.
6. Complete work-study/student help adjustments and reconciliations and other salary corrections, as
necessary.
7. Prepare year-end reports per UW-System instructions.
8.
Assist with obtaining and maintenance of PCI compliance documents for merchant accounts.
C. Other Duties
1. Serve on special project groups representing the Grants area.
2. Remain actively involved in professional activities that are relative to the position.
3. Other tasks as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $50,000-$55,000.
