Everest's client is a preeminent international trade and customs boutique law firm. We are currently seeking a Forensic/Cost Accountant to join their team in their D.C. office.

Our client counsels companies on compliance with — and represents companies involved in litigation over — trade and customs laws. They deliver individual solutions for each client with a goal of maximizing cost-effectiveness and efficiency. Success comes in a variety of forms, whether complying with U.S. or other countries’ laws, lowering duties or fees, or improving clients’ supply chain resiliency. Their trade and customs practices include seasoned lawyers, economists and specialists working together and sharing their experience with law and practice. Team members regularly appear before U.S. agencies including the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. International Trade Commission, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and appellate courts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing case submissions and reconciling cost data with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), identifying and proposing solutions for issues affecting antidumping analysis.
  • Conducting detailed analyses to uncover financial discrepancies, misrepresentations, or irregularities in cost data placed on the record of proceedings.
  • Providing expert analysis of reports costs, production data, and pricing to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Preparing precise adjustments to cost of production calculations and detailed cost breakdowns for antidumping duty margin calculations, ensuring compliance for submissions to regulatory agencies.
  • Composing written analyses for regulatory agencies, identifying supporting factual evidence as needed, and facilitating cross-functional team work product by identifying and explaining implications of complex financial data.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Economics; CPA, CIA, CMA, or CFE certification preferred.
  • Experience in international trade accounting, forensic accounting or cost accounting. 
  • Experience with antidumping is a plus. 
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications like Word, Access, and Excel
  • Experience in SAS is a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities, including the capacity to convey detailed and complex information effectively
  • Capability and readiness to engage with intricate procedure
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage personal and others' tasks efficiently.
