The Farm Manager works with crop production on the grounds at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort and Spa by implementing strategies for maximum yield, organizing farm administration, working machinery, and managing staff. The farm manager must satisfy regulations set by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) for safe, high-quality produce farmed in an environmentally sustainable manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES: - Oversee day-to-day farming operations.
- Manage a group of farm assistants, ensuring the team is performing tasks safely and effectively.
- Supervise the fertilizing, planting, cultivating and harvesting procedures of crops.
- Plan activities for staff, mentoring and monitoring them.
- Maintain and monitor the quality of crop yields.
- Work closely with F&B Management at both properties to maximize the growing of crops/produce the restaurants require.
- Manage the farm operations budget and keep financial records up to date.
- Maintain accurate product sales records by produce type.
- Market the farm's products to property F&B Leaders and Gift Shops.
- Buy supplies, such as equipment, fertilizer and seeds.
- Diagnose any crop problems (disease, insect, weeds, or soil problems)
- Arrange the maintenance and repair of farm buildings, machinery and equipment.
- Understand the implications of the weather and make contingency plans.
- Ensure that farm activities comply with government regulations.
- Be knowledgeable about pests, diseases and understand how they spread and how to treat these conditions.
- Apply health and safety standards across the farm estate.
- Protect the environment and maintain biodiversity.
- Deliver produce to The Blue Heron (Ojo Santa Fe), The Artesian (Ojo Caliente) and Gift Shops at both properties.
- Cultivate great relationships with F&B Managers, Kitchen Managers, of both restaurants, the Retail Manager and Director of Marketing.
- Have a hands-on approach to all farm activities, including planting, harvesting, cleaning, packaging, weeding, along with all other farm related work.
- Participate in meetings as required.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: - Three or more years of experience managing a farm operation, preferred.
- Previous farming background/experience, a MUST.
- Experience working with row crops a plus.
- Experience working on a budget.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership/management experience.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge of the environment and legislation/public policy matters in a practical environment.
- Marketing and sales skills.
- Must be able to work flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to walk or stand for eight or more hours per day, sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, push, pull and lift items weighing 40-50 pounds.
