About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chair for the Department of Social Work and Sociology. The successful candidate will be the chief administrative and academic leader of the department, responsible for strategic planning, budget development, and management, as well as the recruitment and retention of faculty and students. The role involves overseeing the development and improvement of curricula, evaluation of faculty performance, and maintaining accreditation. The Chair will also be tasked with developing external partnerships, implementing strategies to enhance research infrastructure, and promoting a strong educator-researcher emphasis. A key aspect of the position is to provide visionary leadership that supports the department's mission of social justice and health equity. Applicants for the Chair position must have a doctoral degree in social work or sociology, with a strong record of teaching and research. A minimum of 3 years' experience in an administrative or management role within an academic institution, and a similar period of teaching at the collegiate level, is required. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of extramural funding, be familiar with student recruitment and retention, and have knowledge of CSWE accreditation. The role demands a dynamic, inclusive, and visionary leader who can work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. The Chair will also be expected to conduct research, publish in refereed journals, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses within the department.
