Job Description
This Bailiff position is unique in that it will be assigned to the St. Louis County Jail in Duluth, MN. The duties of this position involve receiving and setting up email calendar appointments, taking court data, and entering it into the jail management system along with escorting inmates to virtual court appearances.
The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2025. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $20.50 - $26.73 per hour.
An employee in this class preserves order and control in courtrooms and common areas of the courthouses to ensure the safety of court officials, participants, and the general public. Duties include monitoring and screening individuals, packages and personal items entering and leaving the courtroom using a variety of detection methods and devices; assisting in providing security during heightened security situations; assisting with emergency medical situations as needed; obtaining defendants identifying information in accordance with applicable laws; directing and escorting non-combative custodial individuals within the courthouse. The work is performed in accordance with established Departmental policies under the supervision and authority of the Sheriff's Office, and in conjunction with other courthouse staff .

RARE : Restrain individuals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail): - High school graduation or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Candidates with related training in law enforcement, military law enforcement or private security training and/or experience are preferred.
