We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Accountant or Accountant to join our team. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in our financial operations, preparing bank reconciliations, assisting with tax forms, and supporting our subsidiary accounting functions. ### Key Responsibilities:
For Associate Accountant:
- Assist in preparing various tax forms, such as sales tax returns, premium and municipal tax returns, and state tax forms for our parent company, subsidiaries, and non-profit organizations.
- Help prepare financial statement exhibits for budgeting, forecasting, planning, and statutory reporting.
- Create and reconcile general ledger entries while preparing bank reconciliations and supporting daily banking transactions.
- Post invoices and other transactions in our subsidiary accounting software, ensuring timely and accurate record-keeping.
- Collaborate with team members to research accounting variances and work with various departments to correct entries. Assist in developing supporting documentation for external inquiries as needed.
- Input new assets into our fixed asset software, record asset amortization and depreciation, and reconcile balances with the general ledger.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
For Accountant:
- Create, review, and approve general ledger entries while reconciling various accounts.
- Interface with subsidiary ledgers and post entries to generate financial statements for review.
- Respond to inquiries and requests from tax and regulatory agencies, auditors, and other external sources under management guidance.
- Research accounting variances and collaborate with departments to resolve discrepancies, providing training and support where necessary. Assist management with audit preparation and supporting documentation.
- Work alongside management to create dashboards and analytics using Adaptive software.
- Handle complex processing issues, provide support, and assist with training initiatives.
### Required Skills & Experience:
- Associate Accountant: Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience required; internship experience will be considered.
- Accountant: Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience required.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles is essential.
- Experience in insurance accounting is preferred.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software, especially QuickBooks, is preferred.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and intermediate skills in Microsoft Word are required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and commitment to accuracy are crucial.
### Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required.
### Pay Range:
- Associate Accountant: $24.32 to $31.29 per hour
- Accountant: $27.13 to $35.56 per hour
The starting pay rate for this role considers various relevant factors, including location, education, experience, and skills. The level for this position will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, and other qualifications.
