Lockheed Martin Assistant General Counsel Global Supply Chain in Bethesda, Maryland Description: The Assistant General Counsel position will advise the Global Supply Chain function on matters related to direct and indirect procurement, subcontracts, logistics, supplier negotiations and disputes, and other matters pertaining to global supply chain administration and diligence. Lockheed Martin will hire two successful candidates. One Assistant General Counsel will report to the General Counsel, Director and Associate General Counsel for Global Supply Chain. The other Assistant General Counsel will report to the Director, Associate General Counsel for Corporate Contracts, Global Supply Chain. Job Description: Supports various high-visibility client strategic initiatives for the Global Supply Chain organization, including providing advisement in support of terms negotiations for several long-term contracts and boilerplate framework agreements with critical suppliers. Maintains strong, collaborative relationships with internal business partners and stakeholders across client teams on complex matters. Motivated, practical and solution-oriented individual needed to draft, review and provide legal support in the negotiation of various types of commercial agreements. Draft and negotiate licensing and/or information subscription agreements, including software licensing, cloud, SaaS/PaaS and other technology transfer agreements. Consult on legal and regulatory considerations in supply chain process, practices and procedure development and continuous improvement activities. Provide legal support in identifying and addressing matters pertaining to supply chain in M&A activities. Provides legal advice, counsel, and service to internal business clients concerning legal rights, obligations, and privileges of corporations. Keeps current on legislative and regulatory issues, decisions and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies. Creates, maintains, and implements form documentation for contracts, playbooks and guidance for the Supply Chain organization. Acts as an agent of the corporation in various transactions. Advises company regarding concerns for risk assessment. May develop, review, or implement company-wide and/or functionally specific training programs. May also oversee corporate governance matters. May work with outside counsel. Work Location: The employee selected for this position will perform part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility, with a preference for Marietta, Georgia; Bethesda, Maryland; or Grand Prairie, Texas. The specific work location and weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process. Basic Qualifications: Juris Doctorate. Admitted to practice law and a member in good standing in at least one state. At least five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant functional experience, including but not limited to matters relating to supply chain compliance considerations. Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to government contracts and federal procurement, as well as general contracts principles, is essential. Skilled in writing and communicating concisely and precisely; comfortable counseling and communicating with senior executives. Ability to prioritize tasks, assume ownership of issues and take responsibility for work, and drive projects/issues to completion. Desired Skills: Works under consultative direction towards predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Basic working knowledge of trade controls and IT governance (privacy, information security, etc.) legal considerations affecting supply chain transactions is preferred. Experience working in an in-house legal department with global clients is also preferred. Business-minded advisor to management and other internal customers on advanced projects and/or programs that contributes to resolving issues with opinions and solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious. Must be a critical thinker who is able to read and interpret complex language and concepts and then communicate the associated rights and obligations involved in clear terms to clients. Demonstrated ability to work independently and without close supervision; collaborates well with others; and participates in, and leads, cross-functional teams.
